This week our butterflies emerged from their chrysalis! They have spent a few days getting used to their wings and building up their strength. I gave them some juicy oranges and flowers for food, butterflies love nectar, or sugary water (I hope they brush their teeth!!). I had to sprinkle some sugar water onto the flowers for them every couple days but they loved it! When butterflies stretch out their wings a red liquid called meconium can sometimes drip off their wings. So far I’ve gotten the names Pixel, Corona and Twinkle sent into me. That’s 3 names altogether, but there are five butterflies! I would love if you wanted to draw a picture of the butterflies and send it to me too! These butterflies are called painted ladies. How beautiful! Oreo and Wispa were just as excited as we were to see the butterflies arrive! 😍 The chrysalis will shake if it is scared, Wispa must have been making lots of noise! So that’s that! Our butterflies were ready to fly this morning. It was a glorious sunny day here so hopefully they found some of the flowers in my garden to hang out on for a little while! Keep an eye out for them when you’re outside you might be able to say hi! They’re very friendly - here’s a short video I took when we said goodbye!
