Some exciting news!! Our caterpillars have turned into butterflies today. Here is a picture of them on the 4th of March when we met them first! Can you spot them?!! There are 5 in total. The caterpillars then climbed up to the lid of their home (the pot) and hung in a j shape. This is where the magic happens!!! The caterpillars shed their exoskeletons one last time and hardened into their chrysalides. After a few days they were ready to move into their hatching habitat. Today two of our butterflies have hatched! Can you see them? Now they will be fed with water and sugar mixed together to make nectar. The nectar will be sprinkled on the flowers each day. The butterflies also will feed on slices of fruit because they like the juice!
Think of names for our new friends and you can send me your ideas!
