Here in Senior Infants Green, we've been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes. We got creative on Seesaw, here are a few great pictures created by 2D Shapes!

Ants Go Marching

For the month of May, we've been learning about minibeasts. This week we were learning about the story of 10 too, so we learned the song 'The Ants Go Marching'. Here are a few fantastic performances of the song!

Welcome back!

Hello again,

I hope you all had a wonderful two weeks off! We will now be working off Seesaw, where you will get your daily schedule each evening this week @8pm for the following day. This daily schedule will be a link to a google document so that you can access any links in the schedule. You should all have received your Seesaw login details and have accessed Mondays and Tuesdays activities on Seesaw.

Activities on the daily schedule with a ** are activities I think should be prioritized if your time is limited! But the array of activities of the daily schedule are meant to give you a choice of activities to complete. If you cannot complete all the activities, that is ok. The daily schedule activities should be enjoyable for you all and are intended to complement what you already do at home.

Please see your suggested plans for Friday 3rd April below!

Today we recorded an online school assembly so please do take the time to watch it around 1pm tomorrow (Friday). These are some pictures taken from the recording process!

We are now going on a well earned break from home learning for two weeks. If you would like to keep your mind busy during the holidays I would suggest downloading the 'Storyline Online' App and 'Starfall' app. Both of these apps can be accessed online too.

Seesaw will be our way of communication from Monday 20th April onwards, therefore the suggested tasks won't be uploaded to this class blog or Aladdin. A reminder notice will be sent via Aladdin for the first week back. The suggested plans will be seen on Seesaw only, along with more communication between myself and the children on the Seesaw app.

You will be getting your login details tomorrow (Friday). Please join my class on Seesaw as soon as you get the details, thank you!

I wish you all a very happy and healthy two weeks off! I have been thinking of you all everyday and I'm looking forward to seeing your work on Seesaw after the holidays!

International Space Station

Your Home Learning Pack

Dear parents/guardians,
With the news that schools are going to be closed, we are anxious that we need to continue with teaching and learning in Esker Educate Together. However, we also want to keep the connection between home and school. This pack aims to let you know how I will be interacting with you and your child(ren) over the coming months.

We have to look after “happy” and “safe” before we look at “learning” so please don’t feel under pressure! Engage as much as you can. Not every family will be in a position to participate in Home Learning activities. As a staff, we understand this and value every family’s decision equally. There is no obligation on families to complete the activities we will suggest. Everyone's main focus should be on keeping safe and healthy.

Things you need to know:

Suggested Timetable for your child(ren)’s day:

1.	Exercise: Before any home learning gets done, it's a good idea to get in some exercise. There are plenty of options for this depending on family circumstances: Walk the dog for 30 minutes (if you don’t have a dog, just walk without one!) Do one of our HIITs or choose from the hundreds on YouTube Every morning at 9am, Joe Wicks, the Body Coach is doing a live workout for kids on his YouTube Channel
2.	Core Subjects: Children can get down to some of the work I left for them the previous evening for English and Maths. The work is accessed if you click on the button with the relevant "(Day&Date)" e.g. "Thursday 26th March" which will be posted here each evening for the following day by 7pm. NOTE: This session should take no more than 60 minutes. Children will also need regular breaks. They could work these activities for about 20/30minutes before taking a break. Try listening to a song, dancing or doing some exercise.
3.	Break Time: It's important to take a break. Make sure to have a snack and to try and get outside for some fresh air.
4.	School On TV: Every day at 11am, RTE2 are showing School on TV. While we don't know if it will be any good, there's bound to be some good ideas on it.
5.	Research and Imaginative Play: We will give you a theme to work from for 2/3 weeks. This will be similar to the way the children learn during Aistear in school. You can choose one activity each day for the children to play with during this time. You can guide them to use new vocabulary or new ideas they learned about the theme during their play, but this time should be led by your child. Aistear - in school we have 5 stations which the children will rotate daily. Therefore, they get to each station once in the week. These stations comprise of a sensory station (playdough/water/sand), a creative station (guided art/ free art/ junk art), role play station (encourage them to play imaginatively in role based on the theme. E.g. If the theme is Space, they could be an astronaut, a space station engineer, a space scientist), a construction station (Lego/ blocks/ recycled material) and an english station (free writing about the theme I.e. writing a list of what the astronaut needs before setting off to space/ board game around words)
6.	Lunch Time: It's important to eat their lunch. They should try and get outside if they can too.
7.	Free Time: School work should be completed by now. Children, of course, can continue with projects or have some downtime or there are a million other suggestions out there. If you want, you could recommend some activities to do such as LEGO challenges, Catherine’s “Story Writing Competition” on Aladdin, art projects, audio books, TV programmes and so on.

Please keep in mind!
This suggested timetable and plan is to be used as you wish to suit your family. You can pick and choose when and what you do with your child according to your household. It is to provide support for you and your child’s learning but is not meant to cause added pressure or burden at home. Remember to take plenty of breaks to suit you and your child.

Senior Infants at home activities

Polar Explorers

We're coming up to the end of 2019! We have been learning about Polar Explorers and the animals you might find in the north and south pole.

We also had a few fantastic days coming up to our holidays. We performed for both the school and our parents. We played lots of fun social games on our last day before the holidays too!

Dinosaurs!

We performed for Junior Assembly on Friday 15th November. We showed off what we learned about dinosaurs!

Happy Halloween!

Esker goes to the spooky cinema!
We loved going to the cinema in Esker, followed by a very competitive colouring competition.
We had great fun today celebrating Halloween!
