October and Halloween fun

In early October we said goodbye to our wonderful principal Colette as she retired from her role at Esker ETNS. She helped to prepare our school safely and with lots of care and attention to detail for our return after the Covid school closures. She welcomed us into the school each morning with a smile and helped us to settle in happily in September. She will be greatly missed! We wish the best of luck to our new Principal Gemma, we know she will do a fantastic job!

We drew portraits of Colette and made bunting to hang above our classroom as we prepared for her final goodbye. We recited our Irish 'Lámh, Lámh eile' poem as she visited our room on her last day. 


During the month of October we learned all about Autumn and the changes that happen as the seasons change from Summer to Autumn. We learned about scarecrows, pumpkins, warm clothes and even went on a few leaf hunts outdoors!

On our last day before midterm break we dressed up in our favourite costumes and Halloween outfits to celebrate! Milena prepared Halloween biscuits for us to decorate and bake in school. We used chocolate squares and smarties to create spooky skeleton faces. After our baking we played musical statues and had a picnic while we watched a Halloween movie. It was a great day!
