The children had great fun exploring gymnastics in PE. It was excellent to see the children learning new skills and having fun.
The children had great fun learning about Máirt Inide (Pancake tuesday) which was celebrated by enjoying a delicious pancake with their chosen toppings. The children wrote how to make pancóga as Gaeilge. Mhaith sibh!
In February, the excellent storyteller Niall de Burca paid an entertaining visit. The children really enjoyed listening to the hilarious stories. Great fun was had by all.
Bhí na páistí i rang a ceathar dearg ag deanamh job mhaith a bheith ag labhairt as Gaeilge don Seachtaine Gaeilge. Báint siad taitneamh as an Céile Mhór freisin!
Finally, It was great to see the children practicing their gardening skills. The children planted potatoes in the school garden as part of their learning about The Great Famine in History. Well done all!

The children enthusiastically took part in lots of projects including presentations about the counties of Ireland, posters about the Mayan civilisation and even designed and built their own Norman castles. They also took part in rugby lessons, swimming lessons, and learned some great new skills in their ukulele classes.

Earlier this term, they prepared and presented a Learn Together assembly on responsibility, showing real creativity and teamwork.

One of the highlights of the term was Mother Tongue Week. The class learned all about Italy, decorated their classroom door, created projects, and got the chance to explore the many different nationalities represented in our school. They especially enjoyed Sidra’s visit, where she shared stories about the culture of Pakistan. Another favourite moment was trying a wide range of cultural foods in the hall. The week finished with a special whole-school Learn Together assembly, which everyone really enjoyed.

It’s been a full and fun term well done to everyone in 4th Class Red.

Halloween Party:
4th Class Red had a brilliant time at the annual Esker Halloween Parade. The children looked amazing dressed up in their traditional and Halloween outfits. They finished the half-term off with a popcorn party. Lots of fun was had by all.
Swimming:
4th class red were so excited to begin their swimming lessons in Clondalkin Leisure Centre last week. The children showed excellent responsibility and organisational skills getting ready and travelling to swimming. Well done all!
Learn Together Assembly:
The children did an amazing job preparing for and performing their Learn Together Assembly based on the Learn Together value of responsibility. The performance included a poem, a drama and a song. Well done to all the children who worked so hard during the week learning their lines and preparing for the performance. Amazing work!

This year in 4th Class Red we have been doing ukulele lessons on a Friday with Karen. We have learned the songs lovely, golden, soda pop, waka waka (a class favourite),riptide and spooky scary skeletons.

Rugby
We have been doing rugby on Monday with our coach JP. We have learned how to pass, score tries and lots more. We also played tag rugby. Two of the rules in rugby are pass backwards and run forwards.

GAA
In PE we have been doing GAA. We’ve been learning to hand pass, bounce, solo and kick pass. It has been great to practice these skills ahead of our upcoming GAA blitz this year.

Art
In art we have made zectangle art, Lego self portraits, Pablo Picasso inspired art and scarecrows. This year we found out that we will be creating our very own art portfolios. This is very exciting because we never had an art portfolio before.

Mobile library
Fourth class has been a very exciting year because we got to go to the mobile library for the first time. We all got different books, but many of them were The Bad Guys!

County projects
This month we learned how to use google slides on our school ipads. We made presentations on the counties of Ireland. We worked in groups of two or three. Everyone did a different county so nobody had the same facts. These were very interesting presentations.

It was our first time at senior sports day and we had the best day! It was very hot but we all had our sun cream, hats, water and some of us even brought umbrellas to stay in the shade. We were very tired when we got back to school, but happy at how much fun we had! Thanks to all of our families who came to cheer us on.

We invited our families in to show them our work, we had a table for The Vikings, Ancient Egypt, Language and Culture, Games From the Past, Persuasive Writing and we had yummy food from different cultures. It was a great way to end off our year after all our hard work! A huge thank you to all our families who came in to visit.

We worked hard to prepare our outfits, plan the event, and practice our Irish speaking and vocabulary, all as part of our commitment to using Gaeilge every day.
We invited some other classes, as well as Gemma, to come and watch our show. Everyone was really impressed by how confidently we spoke Irish throughout the event. It was a wonderful opportunity to show how much we enjoy learning and using Irish in fun and creative ways.
This event was a special part of our journey towards earning our Gaelbhratach. The fashion show helped us bring the language to life and reminded us why it’s important to keep speaking Irish, both in school and beyond. We are so proud of what we achieved and loved every minute of doing everything as Gaeilge!

This week is Seachtain na Gaeilge, and there are lots of fun activities happening in Esker to promote the Irish language. We would love for all our families to get involved as well!

This year, we are running a poster competition, with a fantastic prize—a €50 voucher for Cosmos in Liffey Valley for one lucky family! Closing date is Friday March 14th!

We are also offering free resources for families to take home (first come, first served). There was huge interest in these resources and we ran out, which is a great sign of the interest in Gaeilge!!

Finally, we will have our Lá Glas this Friday, March 14th, where children are encouraged to wear something green to school.
