ESKER Educate Together National School End of Year NewsletterHello to all our parents, guardians, families and members of the Esker School Community. It’s June already and another action packed and fun-filled school year is drawing to a close. For us it has been happy and hectic, and I hope the same is true for you. This year we asked the children rather than the teachers to write something about their experiences of the year. Here’s a sample of the children’s contributions! Our Pupils Experiences This TermJunior InfantsSenior InfantsFirst ClassBlue ClassSecond ClassThird ClassFourth ClassFifth ClassA Message From LindaAs part of our ongoing efforts to promote diversity and cultural understanding, we created a multicultural cookbook. We had a tutor from the Adult Education Services - South West join us for the class and the book was funded by a grant from the ALL fund (Adult Literacy for Life) and ad space from local businesses. This cookbook features a collection of recipes contributed by our parents, staff, and members of the local community. It showcases the rich tapestry of culinary traditions that make up our school community, celebrating the diversity that makes us unique. We launched the book at our first ever summer fete. It was a fantastic day of food and crafts and the Mayor of South County Dublin joined us, along with other local councillors. It was an incredible way to unite our whole school community together and I can highly recommend doing something like this with your school. Final Term ECA & CalloutsThis term, our students are actively participating in a variety of extracurricular activities! From tossing around new skills at Ultimate Frisbee to hitting their strides at Cricket, there's been something for everyone! The Lego club was building up creativity. The Football Club continues to be a hit, with students showing great teamwork and enthusiasm. A special mention to our 5th class students for their impressive ''STEMpathy'' projects, showing their innovative solutions to real-world problems with empathy and creativity. Congratulations to all the students who made their First Holy Communion last month. Finally a very special mention to Rosa, from Junior Infants, who donated her hair to the Laura Lynn Hospice. Her generosity is a shining example of the kindness and community spirit that our students embody every day. We're thrilled to see them not only excelling academically but also enriching their lives through such meaningful endeavours. A Message From GemmaEvery year brings new children, new learning and activities. The children embraced every thing this year with enthusiasm and energy, be it Mighty Oaks, Say yes to languages, Women in Tech, Cuman na mBunscoil, Active week, Maths week, Mellow Yellow day, the Esker Fete, Learn Together Showcases, STEMpathy projects and much more.
We have enjoyed every single day with your children - teaching together and learning together. We hope that you and your family get to slow down over the summer and enjoy some quality family time together away from the pressures of time. Enjoy the outdoors and the simple pleasures of walks, reading and playing board games. A special farewell to our wonderful 6th class - we will miss this extraordinary bunch and look forward to hearing all about your new schools. And so another successful year draws to a close. On behalf of all the Esker Staff I would like to thank you for your continued support, participation and engagement in the life of the school. We've enjoyed the year immensely and we hope your children have too. We look forward to further adventures next year! Wishing you a happy, restful summer. Gemma & Entire Esker Staff
