Some of the children brought in their teddies and dolls from when they were babies today. We talked about why we loved them then and our favourite toys now that we are a little older. Thank you for bringing them in to visit our busy classroom!
This week we will be investigating the dancing raisins! First the children will predict what will happen when the raisins are put into the 7up - will they sink or float? Then we watch and talk about what actually happens! Our results are recorded on worksheets.
This month we are learning about the Doctor’s Surgery. We are playing in role and we have been busy making our own hospitals!
Check out our role play area - we have been pretending to be the patients and are using the waiting area to take turns! The doctor asks us ‘what’s wrong?’ And we tell them what is bothering us.
The receptionist takes phone calls and makes the appointments to see the doctor!
Here in junior Infants Green we are learning to work together. Our teacher is blown away by our team work everyday! Ask us: what treatments can the doctor give to someone who is sick?
A month of firsts here in Junior Infants! We were invited to our first learn together assembly. We enjoyed a wonderful performance about Dinosaurs for science week by Senior Infants Green. Colette read a very funny poem about a teacher that answered too many questions and Gemma told us about the maths POW.
The first Toy and Treat Sale was held on Thursday! We had our money ready for serious spending - we bought lots of different sweets and toys! Thank you to our PTA for organising such a great event!
Last Thursday we were super excited to welcome Dave from Lucan Sarsfields as he had brought us a very special trophy!
We are so proud of Dublin and hope we see the Sam Maguire back here next year too! #COYBIB #upthedubs
This month, we are learning about the construction site. We are learning all about the crane, the excavator, the cement mixer and the reason why builders wear hard hats.
Some children have even been getting to know the tools that the builders use! Can you see us hard at work fixing things with the hammer?
We are working together to build using the polydrons! Here we were using one colour at a time we are working hard as a team and using our maths skills to sort too!
We are busy designing houses! The person who designs buildings is called an ‘architect’. How many windows do you see? We are taking turns to change how the house looks!
We have even been doing some free painting linked with Gaeilge. We come up with our own ideas and use na dathanna (the colours) that we already know! Ask us what colours we used to create our paintings? We know dearg, oráiste, buí, gorm, glas and dubh!
Welcome to our new school website! We will be posting on our class blog more often from now on. Check out some shots from our first visit to our schools Magical Fairy Village!
We played on the tyres, wooden bridge and found the Fairy Garden! It was lots of fun.
Being outside helps us learn lots of things about the world we live in, and we have lots of fun playing too!
We hope to visit here again soon, but in the meantime keep an eye on our blog for more posts about what we are getting up to in our first year of school!
