Family Valentine's Craft Workshop with Aoife Munn Saturday 13th February, 2:00pm - 3:00pm Join Aoife Munn for a fun Valentine's workshop for ages 6+ and their grownups. Join this session and together we will make inspirational wall art for the home. It will include some origami, inspirational quotes and lots of creativity. Have a think beforehand about the things that mean something to your family like perhaps the beach or a quote from your favourite children’s book, and build a personal store of things to use from little pebbles to quotes and some nice paper for making some origami. All people need is paper, card, scissors, pritt stick and colours. This workshop will be delivered online via Zoom. Relax Kids Mindfulness Workshop Tuesday 16th February, 4:00pm - 5:00pm Help your children relax while encouraging their creativity and imagination. This session involves warm up and movement, relaxing mindfulness games, stretching and breathing exercises and affirmations. Have a blanket and pillow ready for the relaxing visualisation at the end! Interactive Cookery Class for Children with The Cool Food School Thursday 18th February, 11:00am - 12:00pm This mid-term why not join with Deirdre from The Cool Food School and learn how to make healthy banana flapjacks and other tasty treats! The Cool Food School have a passion for bringing the joys of healthy eating to children through fun interactive workshops. The facilitator will email the attendees with a safeguarding statement and list of ingredients in advance. The event is live so please do not book if you cannot attend on the morning. Smartphone Film Making Workshop for Teens Friday 19th February, 12:00pm - 2:30pm This workshop will be taught by industry professionals who work in the Irish and UK film industry. Students will learn how to write, film and direct their own film using their smartphone. During the workshop students will cover the following modules: Script Writing, Directing, Cinematography, Working with Actors, Smartphone Film-making, Editing. This workshop is run by Burning House Productions who are an award-winning film production company based in Dublin. In the last three years they have won awards in America, the UK, Europe and Ireland for films which they wrote, produced and directed. They facilitate drama workshops around Dublin and Ireland. They work with professionally trained actors, directors and drama facilitators. Their staff are professionally trained and work in the Irish and UK film and theatre industry. Becoming a Journalist with The Times reporter, Brian Mahon Tuesday 23rd February, 8:00pm - 9:00pm Illustrated using his own experiences, Brian Mahon, journalist with The Times, discusses the career path towards becoming a journalist, finding stories, reporting the news and how to work as a reporter without getting sued! Brian will also discuss his favourite stories he's worked on and answer your burning journalistic questions! Suitable for teenagers and young people considering a career in journalism and anyone interested in how we get our news. This talk will be delivered online via Zoom. Ireland Reads - A New National Reading Campaign Ireland Reads is a new campaign to get the whole country reading this month in the lead up to a national day of reading on Thursday 25th February. It doesn’t matter how long you read for or what you read, it doesn’t matter whether you’re an avid reader, a reluctant reader, a lapsed reader or a new reader, this campaign is for you.
Take the pledge to read at irelandreads.ie A new website www.irelandreads.ie has been set up where you can pledge to read on ‘Ireland Reads’ Day, February 25th, and check to see how much time has been pledged by the Irish public so far.
Get a book recommendation at irelandreads.ie The Ireland Reads website also offers book recommendations, suited to a person’s interests and the time they have available. There are more than 800 recommendations from librarians all around the country.

Family Event - Go Animal Crackers! with Author and Illustrator, Alan Nolan Saturday 27th February, 12:00pm - 1:00pm If you love animals, stories and drawing then this is the event for you! Join author and illustrator Alan Nolan for a fun hour of crazy animal facts, drawing and storytelling. Perfect for ages 7 – 11 but all the family can join in! Alan Nolan is the author and illustrator of Fintan's Fifteen, Conor's Caveman and the Sam Hannigan series for the O’Brien Press. His latest books, Sam Hannigan and the Last Dodo, and Animal Crackers (with Sarah Webb) are both out now. Alan lives in Bray, County Wicklow with his wife, three sons and an evil cat called Chewie.
