In October 2018, Esker ETNS was inspected by the Department of Education and Skills. Three inspectors conducted a very thorough inspection with a particular focus on Management and Leading Learning.
The inspectors visited classrooms while lessons were being taught, spoke with children, parents, teachers, members of our PTA, the chairperson of the BOM, Colette our principal, our HSCL teacher and In School Management Team (ISM).
Questionnaires were sent to a random selection of parents and children. School policies and whole school curricular plans were inspected along with child protection and child safeguarding procedures. We are very proud of the results of the inspection. The full report can be found here.
PE Curriculum Inspection
Celebrating Our PE Curriculum Evaluation. We are incredibly proud to share the results of our recent Physical Education (PE) curriculum evaluation, which highlights the high standards of activity and inclusion at Esker Educate Together National School. The Department of Education and Youth found the overall quality of our pupils' learning, teaching practices, and school planning to be very good.
Outstanding Participation: Our students demonstrated a "very good" ability to engage in diverse activities like athletics, swimming, and dance, while showing a deep understanding of fair play and healthy lifestyles. Dedicated Teaching: Inspectors praised our teachers for modeling enthusiasm and creating inclusive environments where new skills are explained clearly and practiced effectively. Active School Life: The report affirmed the success of our lunchtime games and after-school clubs, and noted the meaningful contribution of our student council and active school committee. Focus on Language: To continue our progress, we will be providing more opportunities for students to use and master subject-specific language during their PE lessons. Future Assessment: We are committed to further developing a consistent, whole-school approach to tracking pupil progress to ensure every child excels as they move through the year groups.
