Maths Week 2021It is Maths Week 2021 and we have a fantastic week of fun maths activities lined up across the school! Usually the highlight of Maths Week is having our pupils’ grown-ups in to help and we are really hopeful that we will be able to do some great activities with you again next year. In the meantime we would love all our families to get involved at home so we are sharing some ideas and resources here to help. Our big focus in Esker ETNS this year is on telling the time! So this week in Maths Week we are doing lots of time-telling activities. If you are unclear about what aspects of “Time” your child should be learning you can look at the bottom of this page for detail from the curriculum guidelines. In school the children will be doing a range of maths activities including: maths stations, maths trails, quizzes, problem solving activities and using technology-based games. We will be using a Prompt Sheet this year to help ask questions about time (see files). At home all our students should be working with their families on the Esker Family Challenge! A copy of this has gone home with every child (a peach A4 page) and is also available to print in the files section to the left. If you have more than one child in the school then you can just complete one copy if you prefer. We have had interesting conversations with families over the years about the similarities and differences between languages and countries when it comes to telling the time. Hopefully your family can have some fun exploring what’s similar and what’s different and share this knowledge with us! There are some great family prizes to be won so please make sure you get your entries back in on Thursday! At home you could also do the following activities:
