This year, the Esker staff, parents and students have become experts at using technology. Technology is embedded in our school life now more than ever before! Our teachers assign all homework and some classwork through Seesaw from Junior Infants- 5th Class and Google Classroom for 6th Class. Our students submit their homework and some school work using Seesaw and Google Classroom.
Technology in 6th Class
Having developed fantastic skills through the use of Scratch and Microbits last year, we thought that 6th class students couldn't get any more impressive in the field of coding. Not so!
The games created at the start of the year required a lot of logic and computational thought. The animations created later in the year required collaboration and creativity.
Technology allowed them to collaborate and work together, even when social distancing rules meant that we were required to stay apart. We used the collaborative function on BookCreator and the many apps available in GSuite for Education to do so!
Coding in Senior Infants
In Esker, we start practising our coding skills early! In Senior Infants, the children have been programming Beebots. They even programmed them to pollinate flowers, and do a very synchronised dance!
Using Technology As Part Of Schoolwork
Space Week Projects
Fifth Class used technology to research and create digital presentations on the planets as part of Space Week, which they presented to their classmates.
Big Cats Projects
Fourth Class used technology to research for their projects on Big Cats during class time, which they then presented to their class.
