What an incredible day we had in 3rd Class Red! Recently, our classroom was completely transformed into a spectacular Ancient Egyptian history museum, and best of all, the children took total control of the planning. From curation to creation, the students decided exactly how to bring history to life. The museum featured:

• Fascinating History Projects: Showcasing all the incredible facts the children discovered.
  
• The Mummy Display: A brilliant (and spooky!) look at ancient burial traditions.
  
• The Hieroglyphics Station: An interactive table where our visitors could learn to write their own names using ancient symbols.
  

Once the invitations were sent home to our families, the countdown was on!
☕ The "Mummy" CafeEveryone knows that no museum visit is complete without a trip to the gift shop or cafe! Thanks to the amazing generosity of our parents, we had a spread of delicious treats ready for our guests.
🎉 A Huge Success!The big day was a phenomenal success, and we were absolutely thrilled to welcome over 30 family members through our doors. The children did an outstanding job presenting their hard work and guiding their guests through history.

We have some exciting news to share! Our school was lucky enough to win a fantastic Bosca Dúlra (Nature Box) from Biodiversity in Schools.
Inside the box, we discovered a brilliant nature colour wheel, which gave us the perfect excuse to get out of the classroom and turn our school grounds into an outdoor laboratory. We headed outside for a Nature Colour Hunt, and the results blew us away!
🌈 A Rainbow in Our Own BackyardWe often walk past our school gardens and hedges every day, but looking through the lens of a colour wheel changed everything. We didn't just find "green" and "brown" we discovered that our school grounds are absolutely bursting with a hidden rainbow of biodiversity!
Here are some of the incredible colours our eagle-eyed students managed to spot:

• Green & Brown: The essential building blocks of our school ecosystem, from the rich soil to the fresh leaves hard at work making oxygen.
  
• White & Orange: Bright, cheerful flashes (like daisies and dandelions) acting like neon signs to welcome hungry bees and butterflies.
  
• Red & Purple: Exciting, deeper shades hidden away in clover blossoms, berries, and autumn leaves.

​3rd Class Red had the ultimate "snug as a bug" day to celebrate our love for literacy and the story After the Fall. We transformed our classroom into a giant reading den, bringing in blankets, pillows, and slippers to get as comfy as possible. Whether we were lounging in the Sun Bell Garden or tucked away in "secret forts" lying under our desks, it was the perfect way to enjoy our favorite books. This special DEAR Time reminded us all that reading is an adventure that can happen anywhere! It was a peaceful, joyful day where every student truly got lost in a great story.

​3rd Class Red recently channeled their inner artists to explore the work of Janet Sobel, the true pioneer of "drip painting." After learning how she used unconventional tools to create swirling, energetic masterpieces, we took our canvases outside to the Sun Bell Garden. Under the sunshine, we experimented with our own pouring and dripping techniques to create vibrant, abstract art. It was a messy, joyful, and incredibly creative session that brought Sobel's unique style to life. We are so proud of our colorful creations!

​As part of our ongoing work towards the Green Schools Flag, 3rd Class headed out last week equipped with gloves and litter pickers to clean up the school grounds. This hands-on activity reinforced our classroom discussions on waste management and civic responsibility. The students worked enthusiastically to remove rubbish, helping to protect local wildlife and showing great pride in their school environment. It was a practical reminder that small actions, when done together, make a big difference to our planet.

In PE, we have been focusing on gymnastics, specifically developing our rolling techniques. The class practiced maintaining strong body tension with Pencil Rolls before moving on to more dynamic variations like the James Bond and Wonder Woman rolls. These character-themed exercises are excellent for developing core strength, spatial awareness, and coordination, all while keeping the lesson fun and engaging.

​This week, 3rd Class turned into food scientists to investigate how a liquid transforms into a solid. We poured double cream into a glass jar and took turns vigorously shaking it to provide the necessary kinetic energy. We learned that cream is an emulsion—fat globules suspended in water. By agitating the jar, we smashed these globules together, breaking their protective membranes and causing the fat molecules to clump together. This process separated the solid butter from the liquid buttermilk. To conclude the experiment, we enjoyed our fresh butter spread on some traditional Bairín Breac.

This week, we had the absolute privilege of welcoming three grandparents into our class. We had been learning all about Ireland in the 1950's and had prepared lot's of questions to ask the grandparents. They told us all about school, what they did in their free time and how the television only came on at 6pm and there was only one channel! Zayn's grandad even sang us a song, it was amazing to hear such beautiful music being sung in Hindi. One of our students did a sketch of the grandparents, what a talent!
