This year at the beginning of October the students in 3rd class took part in a construction project. Their challenge was to think of new facilities that they would like to see in Lucan and the surrounding areas. They then had to plan and construct a new building that they think children would enjoy.
During Maths Week, which took place in our school from the 17th-21st October, we were very lucky to receive our brand new maths packs! Linda organised this for us and we were delighted to have our parents come into school one morning to play some maths games with us. We had so much fun! There are lots of things included in our pack including a hundred square, snakes and ladders, counters, dice, a deck of cards and maths vocabulary! Every Thursday we have our maths pack for homework and we get to choose a game to play with a family member at home. Welcome to 2nd Class Red's class blog! We hope you enjoy having a look at what's happening in our busy classroom :)
Our Aistear theme in September was 'The Birthday Party'. We set up party food in our role play area. We played party games like pin the tail on the donkey, memory match and snap. We were learning the months of the year by singing a song. We wrote party invitations and borthday cards. We had so much fun!
We have been really lucky to have teachers from Music generation teaching us percussion every Wednesday. We use our bodies or instruments to perfrom percussion activities. We were so proud to win the Golden Boot trophy this week. Our class had the highest number of people who travelled to school in an environmentally friendly way. Some of us walked, some cycled and some did park and stride. Our Green school representatives Mia and Sonny are holding our Golden Boot trophy.
We've really enjoyed our first few weeks in 1st class red. Here are some photos from our Aistear, literacy centres and maths centres. We are excited to continue learning new things this year. We were so happy to be able to bring our sunflower seedlings home last week. We planted them in our classroom one month ago. We had to water them and take care of them until the grew enough to take home. We now need to make sure to water them regularly and let them get lots of sun until they are big enough to plant outside. |
