Hello from all of the children in 4th Class Red! We have had a busy few months since we returned to school in September. Here are a few of the things we gotten up during term 1 in 4th class. Our Winter Walk to Griffeen ParkIn December, we joined our friends in 4th Class Green for a winter walk in Griffeen Park where we learned to identify trees by their buds. Maths Week at Esker ETNSThis term, as part of Maths Week, we put our knowledge of data to the test with some tasty smarties activities! The Really Rubbish Science ShowThis term, with help from SDCC Library, we were lucky enough to receive a visit from Scientist Sue! During her visit we took part in lots of different experiments to show the harmful effects littering can have on the environment. Celebrating Halloween & the festival of SamhainAs part of our Halloween and Samhain celebrations, we took part in lots of different activities. We read Una Wood's Book 'Have you see the Dublin Vampire?' and used our maps to locate the places the Dublin Vampire visited. We dressed up and took part in a Spooktacular parade around the school. We even created some artwork inspired by Yayoi Kusama's pumkins and the poem 'In a Dark, Dark Wood'. Finally took a virtual trip to the National Museum of Ireland, where we learned about the different customs and traditions associated with Halloween and Samhain in the past. Free play creationsHere are some of our free play creations that we created using Lego, Knex, wooden blocks and Bionicle, during free play time, which takes place in the morning before we begin our work. CricketIn November we learned how to play cricket! As well as learning the rules of the game, we also learned the names of the different equipment needed when playing cricket such as cricket bat, wicket and stumps. Mobile Library VisitBack in October, we were delighted to receive a visit from the Mobile Library! Luckily the nice weather meant that we could read our new books with our classmates on the benches outdoors.

We have been having so much fun in the final few weeks of term. Here are some pictures from our biodiversity workshop, our drumming workshop, Sports Week and one of our many nature walks. We also had lots of fun designing and making sunglasses. Last week we enjoyed hosting our own class talent show in the gazebo! We hope you enjoy looking at our photos!
What a busy fortnight we've had back in school! Have a look at some of our pictures of us celebrating Tree Week, having fun in the fairy garden and creating beautiful impressionist paintings inspired by Claude Monet. Congratulations to everyone on another successful term and I hope you all have a lovely Easter break! Caoimhe.
Hello everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed the midterm and had a well deserved break! Here are some photos of the amazing work from Fourth Red when we were in class in December as well as photos of some of our wonderful online work. You can see pictures of our making snow experiment, using oil pastels to recreate Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights, our percussion lessons with Music Generation and photos from Silly Hat Day! Congratulations to Lamar, Ola, Alexandru, Hamid and Eshaal who have won the Outstanding Weekly Learner over the last few weeks, it is always incredibly difficult to pick a winner as there are so many talented hard workers in our class. Keep up the great work! Caoimhe. We had a lovely day celebrating all of our hard work this term in Fourth Class Red! We hope everyone has a safe and happy midterm break! Well done everyone!
This month in Fourth Class Red we have been learning all about Big Cats. We researched different Big Cats including tigers, snow leopards, jaguars and lions and created projects on these. We then presented them to the class. We also enjoyed reading poems and stories all about Big Cats. Today we created marbled paintings. Have a look at some of our photos!
