4th Class Green have had a very eventful beginning to Spring. They have had performed their Learn Together School Assembly on Perseverance, ensuring that even when things are not going their way, they are going to 'Keep on Movin'. The children have attended a talk from STEAM Academy where they got the opportunity to meet a robotic dog called 'PROX'. Some of the children have been busy working hard gardening. Also, the children dove into engaging projects on Italy where we learned facts about Italy's culture, history and cuisine. As a fun reward for all their hard work, they became chefs for a day, rolling up their sleeves to create their very own delicious pizzas in class. Erano deliziosi! The children discovered about Mount Vesuvius and made their own eruptions in the class. We have been busy speaking Irish throughout Seachtain na Gaeilge and are all very excited about our upcoming céilí. It’s been a busy term here in 4th Class Green. Between trails for Maths Week, designing rockets for Science Week and a very spooky visit to St. Finian’s Graveyard here in Lucan we are all well and truly ready for some rest & relaxation over the winter break! We performed in the Winter Showcase and highlighted the importance of kindness and gratitude. We were lucky enough to be accompanied by the Esker Teachers Band in our rendition of Band Aid’s ‘Do they know it’s christmas’. See you all in January! On the 16th of March, it was our turn to perform at the school assembly. We told the story of St Patrick and shared how St Patrick's day is celebrated around the world. We had so much fun! Check out the videos below! We are becoming amazing artists in 2nd Class Green. Check out some of our most recent artwork. ![]() In history, we have been learning about the Titanic. We decided to use pencil, paint and chalk pastels to create our own pictures of the Titanic. ![]() We have been exploring and appreciating the work of artist Claude Monet. We created our own interpretations of his famous piece called: Waterlilies and the Japanese Bridge. ![]() In Science, we have been learning about the life cycle of a frog. We thought it would be fun to draw some frogs! It has been a busy and exciting first term in 2nd Class Green. We re-joined our friends after the summer holidays and got to know our new teacher. We have been very busy learning about autumn, getting outside and exploring amongst the autumn trees and leaves. We have been doing lots of active learning especially in math. At our maths stations, we have been playing fun games and completing math activities. We have been making sure to keep active everyday both inside and outside of the classroom. In PE, we are currently developing our ball skills. Keep an eye on our blog for more updates on what we are doing in 2nd Class Green throughout the year!
During September we got to know each other by focusing our learning around the theme of 'The Birthday Party'. We practiced saying the date of our birthday, revising the months of the year, days of the week and using the calendar. We got creative making origami using the language of ordinal number, first to tenth, while also making bunting and party hats for our role play area. For the month of October we got to learn about the different types of houses through the theme of 'The Estate Agents'. We've also being practicing our chest passes in PE, going on autumn walks, learning coding through Scratch and taking part in fun Music Generation activities every Wednesday where we learn to use percussion instruments. Welcome back after our spring break! On Thursday 22nd April it was World Earth Day and to celebrate this we performed at last weeks junior assembly. You can check it out here! Here are photos of a some activities we have been doing since March! We have been learning all about the plants and animals, especially the ones native to Ireland. |
