Our wonderful Student Council organised a Crazy Day fundraiser on Friday 7th March 2025. This event, organised by the students, for the students, aimed to raise money to purchase equipment and materials suggested by the children in each class and brought to the Student Council representatives.
We had a Crazy fashion show, judged by the student council, where people showed off their crazy clothes, crazy outfits, crazy hair styles, crazy socks and much, much more! We had a student take over where the students became the teachers of the class and Sarah and Jayne became new students Sally and Janice! What a fun way to start a weekend!

Sixth Class Green would like to say a huge "Thank You!" to the PTA who organised a wonderful book and treat sale for the school on Thursday 27th February!
Our favourite part was getting to read with our buddies in Junior Infants Green! On Monday 20th of January 2025, Sixth Class Green hosted a bake sale to raise money for their Graduation party.
This student led initiative, led by Hanna and Daniele was a roaring success! It involved a lot of planning, preparation, organisation, teamwork and baking. Sixth Class Green would like to say a huge "Thank you!" to everyone who supported their bake sale. From baking or bringing items for the sale, helping carry up trays, and sending children in with some money to spend at the bake sale, we are truly grateful, we could not have done it without you! Sixth Class Green have had a busy first term! We visited the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham in October, Kilmainham Gaol in November and we are hoping to round the term off with a trip to the cinema in December! We have been learning to be safe cyclists with Mike and Dom. In January, we will use the skills we have learned to cycle in our local area. We had a workshop from Finbar from AsIAm where we learned about what it means to be neuro-diverse. We participated in lots of experiments for science week such as creating an explosion with diet coke and mentos! We held elections for our student committees. We have met with our Junior Infant buddies and had the best time playing with them during Aistear. Of course, there has been some English, Gaeilge and Maths (among other subjects) squeezed in too! We are looking forward to continuing our action packed year in term 2.
Kindness WeekHi! My name is Fabian and I am a member of 5th class Green. This week was kindness week. We have learned lots of ways that we can be kind to our friends!
Whole-school assembly: On Tuesday we had a whole school assembly. We don't usually have an assembly on a Tuesday, but we had one to talk about kindness week and internet safety. After the assembly we learned how to sign hello in lámh sign language and we discussed a kindness quote in circle time. Buddy Walk: On Wednesday we did our circle time and we learned how to sign ‘goodbye’ in lámh. Then we went to the yard and we went on a buddy walk with First Class Green. It was great fun and it was so funny hearing about what other people's little buddies talked about afterwards. My partner kept skipping other people and it was very difficult to catch up but it was so funny. I really enjoyed getting to know another class in our school. Kindness homework: On Thursday We did our morning routine like any other day, then we did circle time and learned how to sign ‘thank you’. Then we watched a video about kindness and discussed it as a class. We also checked in about our kindness homework, which was to do 5 random acts of kindness at home. Thank you for reading my kindness journal. Fabian MIGHTY OAKS? MORE LIKE MIGHTY FOLKS!
This term everyone in 5th Class green took part in the Public Speaking Program ‘Mighty Oaks’. This program helped us all to speak without fear in front of others and helped all the students running for Student Council and Green-school to speak with confidence. We learned the difference between a good speech and a great speech. Each week we learned a new skill about giving a speech without fear. We also learned about the point of a speech, how to write a good introduction as well as your main points, and finally how to finish your speech strong and leave an impact. The newly elected Green-school and Student council will be sure to Stand tall and speak with confidence this coming year. MATHS WEEK This term we also had Maths week. Activities included a maths treasure hunt, a scavenger game where you scan a picture and it asked you a variety of maths questions, as well as the annual students and parent’s maths quiz. The maths scavenger hunt was definitely my favourite activity that week. HALLOWEEN FUN During this term it was October, you know what that means IT WAS HALLOWEEN! On the last day before midterm, we did a parade, but not just any parade it was a double up! That means each senior class was paired with a junior class and they would walk together. Even with all of these fun celebrations, our teacher Tara and many other teachers gave us loads of sweets. That day was one of the best Halloweens this school has done in all my time in Esker!
